چکیده

This paper develops the impulse control approach to the observation process in Kalman-like filtering problems, which is based on impulsive model-ing of the transition matrix in an observation equation. The impulse control generates the jumps of the estimate variance from its current position down to zero and, as a result, enables us to obtain the filtering equations for the Kalman estimate with zero variance for all post-jump time moments. The filtering equations for the estimates with zero variances are obtained in the conventional linear filtering problem and in the case of scalar nonlinear state and nonlinear observation equations.

Filtering of Discrete-Time State-Space models with the p-Shift Kalman-like Unbiased FIR Algorithm

In this paper, we show a simple way to derive the p-shift finite impulse response (FIR) unbiased estimator (UE) recently proposed by Shmaliy for time-invariant discrete-time state-space models. We also examine its iterative Kalman-like form. We conclude that the Kalman-like algorithm can serve efficiently as an optimal estimator with large averaging horizons. It has better engineering features ...

FIR Filtering of State-Space Models in non-Gaussian Environment with Uncertainties Plenary Lecture

This paper examines the recently developed p-shift iterative unbiased Kalman-like algorithm intended for filtering (p = 0), prediction (p > 0), and smoothing (p < 0) of linear discrete time-varying state-space models in non Gaussian environment with uncertainties. The algorithm is designed to have no requirements for noise and initial conditions and becomes optimal on large averaging intervals....

Time-domain Filtering and Control with Empirical Data

The transmission matrix, introduced by Friedland in 1957, can be used to characterize a linear, time invariant system having an emprically-determined impulse response. The Wiener-Kalman filter can be determined by Cholesky factorization of a covariance matrix formed from the transmission matrix. An analogous result is given for linear, quadratic control. The method is illustrated by several exa...

An adaptive newton-like training algorithm for nonlinear filters which have embedded memory

We discuss herein filtering problems involving the emulation of nonlinear systems which have embedded dynamics and where the truth model consists only of an input and output sequence. It has been shown [1] that steepest descent training algorithms such as BackpropagationThrough-Time (BPTT) are locally H optimal for applications where training inputs vary at each weight update, or training epoch...
